As I mention in the 5:2 intermittent fasting beginner’s challenge, a big part of losing weight is exercise. Sure, you can have a great diet and eat all the right things, but part of being healthy is fitness.

Now, call me crazy, but I love going to the gym. But sometimes it’s not that easy (especially in the middle of winter, when you just want to curl up and stay warm, right?).

So I just build it into my routine. Then I don’t really even think about it. I go in the morning so that other distractions don’t come up, and then I know I won’t have any excuses.

I get up, have a cuppa and a piece of toast, brush my teeth, and get going straight away before something “better” pops up.

I know the hardest part is getting there. Once I’m out the front door, the hardest part is out of the way. And I know that I will feel so much better after it, so that helps me get out the front door as well.

Now, if you aren’t the gym type, then maybe you’ve got to ask yourself “Why not?” No-one cares what you look like. Everyone is there to become fitter and healthier, and it’s good to be around like-minded people.

Looking at their fit, healthy bodies may just inspire you to sculpt yours into something similar as well!

But if you’re dead-set against going to the gym, then there are plenty of other things you can do.

Other Healthy Options

Get a group of you and go walking together. A group is good because it helps with your commitment. They can push you when you need pushing, and vice-versa.

The fresh air is great for the body, and the soul.

You can also set yourself up and work out from home. There are some great DVD’s you can buy, so make some space in front of the TV and work out in style at home.

Whatever your preference, I’m sure there is something that can work for you. It just takes some commitment, and possibly some perseverance, to find what works best for you.

Below I have some ideas that may be able to help you. Just some food for thought…

So, if you really want to fast track your weight loss results, make sure that you get active.

But remember, if you have any concerns about your health, make sure that you check with your doctor first.
